Fraserview's First Mock Evacuation

Safety is a top priority at Fraserview, so on Saturday, February 28, Fraserview held its first ever mock evacuation. Led by Paula Tolton, the head of fire safety at Fraserview, volunteers and staff took over the second floor of Fraserview to practice how to evacuate residents safely in the event of a fire. Volunteers, including family members of the residents, acted out different roles to simulate the challenges staff might encounter. The staff, volunteers, and residents worked together to make this event a huge success!

Dr. Sandra Kusack: “Aging is just because we stop learning new things. The trick is to always learn new things.”

It is one of life’s greatest ironies. A doctor becomes an expert in mental fitness and healthy aging and makes it her life’s work to educate the masses. But her entire world is turned upside down in a bizarre twist of fate when she experiences a series of debilitating strokes that force her into the role of patient.

Brain Stimulation and Boomerang LIFE

The brain and lobes stimulated by Boomerang LIFE
Intellicare Group has demonstrated that Boomerang LIFE can reduce disruptive behaviour in seniors with Alzheimer's and dementia. However, we wanted to know why that happens and what areas of the brain are triggered when using Boomerang LIFE. The brain is a hugely complex part of the human body that is still not quite fully understood. Add to that the effects of dementia and memory impairment and it’s hard to say what we know about the brain and what stimulates it.

Country Kitchen Opens

Country Kitchen Opens
Fraserview celebrated the opening of its brand-new kitchen with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Linda Reid, Bill McNulty, and Malcom Brodie. When Fraserview first opened, back in 1971, this space actually served as the kitchen that fed all residents. With Fraserview’s growth over the years, we’ve decided to renovate the old kitchen with the help of Fraserview’s Auxillary to create a bright and happy space that residents and families can use. We’re looking forward to all of the amazing treats we can create in this kitchen.
